OCYF Office of Children, Youth, and Families


Child Welfare Resource Center

They train anyone who works in the Children and Youth system in PA.

The Center provides County Children and Youth Agencies with individualized training and technical assistance services as well as hold training classes at the center.

Information about children and youth practices are understood and taught at this center.

There are many committee’s that are ongoing here to work on areas of interest such as diversity.

These services are provided through ongoing collaborative partnerships with County Children and Youth Agencies, the Department of Human Services, Pennsylvania Children and Youth Administrators, private provider agencies, children, youth, families, community members, and other system partners.  http://www.pacwrc.pitt.edu


CYF Regional Teams

The Regional Teams are assigned to work with County Children and Youth Agencies to assess the training and technical assistance needs, and to coordinate a seamless delivery of the Resource Center’s products and services.

The members of each Regional Team include:

Practice Improvement Specialist, Curriculum and Instructional Specialist, Training Specialist, Transfer of Learning Specialist, Administrative Assistant

Through cross-system collaboration the Resource Center facilitates county specific assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and monitoring that leads to improved knowledge, skills and practices.

This method helps ensure that the training and technical assistance needs of Child Welfare professionals are met across the state and better prepares our system to facilitate the outcomes of safety, permanence and well-being for the children, youth and families we serve.

PA KinConnector is an information, referral and education program for kinship caregivers in Pennsylvania.

Kinship caregivers are blood and non-blood relatives (ie teachers, coaches, and family friends) who care for children when their biological parents can’t.

The KinConnectors seek to assist these caregivers by providing information on financial assistance, legal information and referrals, and other issues caregivers face when raising children to provide stability and permanency in the home.
