< Back Ethical /Legal Issues Issues in Every day's Children's Mental Health Practice Webinar WPIC PITT Family members who may be integrated into an agency, and psychologists, counselors, social workers, educators, nurses, and other mental health professionals who are interested in integrating family members as staff in a professional environment. Today’s clinical practices necessitate consideration of a myriad of ethical and legal issues. The purpose of this program is to provide practicing mental health professionals with guidance to negotiate these issues. Informed consent, the age of consent and confidentiality are areas of primary concern to mental health professionals and family members. Current practice standards with regard to supervision and scope of practice issues will be presented.

It is typically characterized by low muscle tone, short stature (when not treated with growth hormone), incomplete sexual development, cognitive disabilities, behavioral problems, and the hallmark characteristics – chronic feelings of insatiable hunger and a slowed metabolism that can lead to excessive eating and life-threatening obesity. Those who have PWS need intervention and strict external controls, sometimes including padlocking access to food, to maintain normal weight and to help save their lives.
