State Workforce Agencies (SWAs) nationwide operate American Job Centers (AJCs) that provide employment and workforce information services in local communities. The Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (VETS) provides funding to SWAs through Jobs for Veterans State Grants (JVSG). Through these grants, states fund three positions in AJCs: Disabled Veterans’ Outreach Program (DVOP) specialists, Local Veterans’ Employment Representatives (LVER) staff, and consolidated DVOP/LVER staff positions. DVOP specialists provide intensive services to veterans and eligible spouses, designed to facilitate participants’ transition into meaningful civilian employment. LVER staff performs outreach to local businesses and employers to advocate for the hiring of veterans. With VETS approval, a full-time employee may perform both DVOP specialist and LVER staff duties in a consolidated position.
