Accurate diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is critical to early intervention and improved outcomes.

Recent prevalence rates suggest that up to 1 in 150 individuals have the disorder (CDC, 2007).

This program will review the early identification of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), symptoms and the DSM-IV-TR diagnostic criteria for children, adolescents, and adults.

Methods for diagnostic evaluation will be presented.

Types of interventions will be reviewed, including ABA behavioral approaches, educational programs, social skills competency, and pharmacologic adjunct to the treatment plan.
