- Family Therapy w/Adolescents w/Depression: A Positive Biopsychosocial Approach Webinar WPIC PITT
< Back Family Therapy w/Adolescents w/Depression: A Positive Biopsychosocial Approach Webinar WPIC PITT All clinical and research professionals, students, and trainees as well as interested family members and individuals with mental illness. Working with the adolescent population has always been a challenge for clinicians. Given the developmental issues (striving for independence from the family of origin), adolescents are often reluctant to engage in being a part of the family therapy process. The adolescent’s inclusion in family sessions frequently becomes a “battle” bringing the “power struggles” of the home life into the therapeutic arena. As the number of adolescents with depressive disorders and also para-suicidal and suicidal behaviors, the clinician has become more aware of the adolescent’s impact on the family system. This workshop will look at some concepts and issues in the effective use of family treatment with adolescent depression and suicidality. The focus will be placed on understanding the concept of the “reciprocal influence” between the mental illness and the family system. A four-step process for intervening with families will be presented.

- The Trehab Community Action Agency
< Back The Trehab Community Action Agency The Trehab Community Action Agency is committed to acting as both a service provider and an advocate for the poor, unemployed, and underemployed, the elderly, and other groups at risk. The agency is committed to serving the community as a catalyst for asset building and by helping to increase access to capital. Navigation Calendar Links News Featured Projects Helping People and Communities The Trehab Community Action Agency began in Lackawanna County in 1970 as Treatment and Rehabilitation Services of Northeastern Pennsylvania. In the intervening years, the organization has vastly expanded both its service area and programs. While still offering drug and alcohol treatment services, Trehab now also offers a wide array of comprehensive programming designed to empower those in need and address the various barriers to success – including workforce services, housing counseling, community services, and transportation assistance. In response to the housing crunch resulting from the influx of Marcellus Shale activity into the area, Trehab also continues to construct and operate affordable housing developments. We serve six rural counties in Northeastern Pennsylvania, having branches in Tioga, Bradford, Susquehanna, Sullivan, Wyoming, and Wayne Counties. Explore the website for more information on Trehab’s programs, or call (570) 278-3338 to reach the main admin office.
