It provides children with a developmentally appropriate early childhood education. The program ensures that young children get health checkups and treatment, oral health screenings, and that they are fed a nutritious hot meal every day. It is operated by local agencies in every county in Pennsylvania. Head Start is unique in its comprehensive approach to the needs of children and families, which adheres to federally designated standards.

< Back ADAMS/YORK COUNTY Guiding Hearts with Hope Guiding Hearts with Hope is a Community Recovery 501c3 nonprofit organization created to address issues concerning substance abuse and mental health. Our goal is to unite families impacted by the disease of addiction in order to create environmental and healthy change. We offer Family Recovery Wellness Support Meetings twice a month. Our wellness recovery program is a completely confidential and safe haven for all in need of support, encouragement, education, and friendship as we gather to share and heal together. Dealing with the anguish and heartache of the overwhelming struggle created by a family member‘s addiction causes much distress. We will take positive holistic action to promote hope, healing, and health by recognizing the interconnectedness of the body, the mind, spirit, and the community. We will do this by drawing out and strengthening the natural systems of support inherent to all communities so that individuals and families achieve the lives they desire.

As a key component of this system, Philadelphia launchedits own managed care organization, Community Behavioral Health, to provide behavioral health coverage for persons on Medicaid. It has been in operation in Philadelphia since February, 1997.

< Back Monroe-Northampton Transition Coordinating Council IU 20 Pennsylvania’s transition community has a rich history of helping youth and young adults successfully transition from school to adult life. Since 1990 our state’s Local Transition Coordinating Councils (LTCCs) have played an instrumental role in this process. There are over 70 Local Transition Coordinating Councils (LTCCs) operating across Pennsylvania. With cross-stakeholder representation, many meet several times throughout the year to share information and resources. Some Councils hold interagency staffings to identify potential supports and services that may be available for transitioning youth. Others focus on the development and delivery of projects, products and activities. For youth, families, and all other transition stakeholders, the LTCCs are a primary contact for local supports and resources related to secondary transition.
